What do I need to know before renting a boat in the Netherlands? It is important to look for rental companies that are affiliated with the HISWA branch organisation. Charter companies who are recognised by the HISWA, all offer the same rental agreement conditions.
Next to that, to rent a boat, you have to pay a deposit for the insurance in case of damage. The deposit can vary in amount depending on the boat. The insurance deductibles are equal to the deposit that you pay on the yacht. At check-out the boat will be checked for damages, when nothing has happened, the charter company will return the deposit.
What to bring when renting a boat? Before you pack, it is good to check the inventory list provided by the charter company to see what is already on board and what you would like to bring yourselves. Of course, it is practical to bring some food for the first night or day and different types of clothes for all weather conditions.
Next to that, have a look if you have shoes with a white sole, shoes with a black sole will leave marks on the boat.
Please consider, it is practical to pack your belongings in foldable bags which you can store on board instead of a big suitcase. If you don't have foldable bags, you can also bring your stuff on board and put the suitcase back in the car.
